About Us
The Ashtagram Association (registered under the Societies Registration Act. Registration no C-85/33-34 of 22nd May 1933) was established in 1933. The villages covered by the association are Deverayasamudram, Shillangere, Ganjigunte, Vijilapura, Hunukunda, Yelagondahalli, Kothamangalam, Chamarahalli, Doddiganahalli, Cholankunte, Minijenahalli, Haralakunte, Gangapura, Tattangunte, Honaganahalli and Madamathanahalli. These villages are in Mulbagal, Kolar and Bangarpet Taluks of Kolar District, Karnataka state. The membership of the association relates to all persons belonging to Ashtagram Villages. The Association as celebrated its Platinum Jubilee on 4th January 2009.
Main achievements of the Association are as follows:
- The Association has constructed a community hall in Ashtagrama layout, Magadi main road, Bangalore
- It has established more than 120 Merit Awards and Scholarships and educational prizes to uphold excellence
- It is distributing nearly Rs. 50,000 every year for poor SSLC and PUC students towards examination fee, education aid, notebook and study material distribution etc., Apart from Merit Awards & Scholarship
- It is helping indigent members of the community to perform marriages, obsequies
- It is involved in distress relief by way of medical aid and helping indigent widow
- The Association has published a book “Ashtagrama, Smarth Vadama Iyer Community of Kolar District” a study in Kannada by Sri.Y. M. C. Sharma
There is still lot to do.
